Five on Friday

Friday – the day of the week we all look forward to – right? Another week has come and gone and so once more, it’s time for this week’s edition of Five on Friday! I’m going to theme this week’s post around Perfectly Posh! I know some people shy away from sharing too much about a “business” venture on their blog – but being a consultant for Perfectly Posh is part of who I am – so I’m going to go ahead and share all things Posh with you today…

Five on Friday
One. Spooky Posh – Halloween is less than two weeks away…I don’t know if I even believe it! If one of your favorite things about Autumn and Halloween is all things pumpkin, then Spooky Posh is definitely for you! Carved for Attention Body Butter is so creamy and smooth – it goes on and rubs in without any greasy residue – like all of Posh’s body butters. The smell is amazing…like a hazelnut and pumpkin Fall candle for your skin! Boo Yeah Triple Pumpkin Facial Cleanser has three types of pumpkin and kaolin clay with a light cranberry smell to lighten and brighten your skin. I love both of these products and if you love all things Fall – grab yourself one of each before they’re gone!

Two. October Giveaways – October is the perfect month to place a Perfectly Posh order…and most especially between now and October 24th! Each day through October 24th, every order of $50 (before tax & shipping) will receive a free gift added to your order…and each day, the free gift will be new! Today’s free gift is You’ve Got It Glowing On Primer…and who knows what tomorrow’s will be? Either way – if you’re looking to stock up on some Posh, grab it now and get yourself a free gift!

Three. Holiday Posh – I know…I know…I just mentioned that Halloween is right around the corner, but you know what’s not far behind Halloween? Christmas and the whole holiday season that comes with it! Earlier this week, Perfectly Posh released two new holiday products and I can’t wait to get my hands on both – my order shipped yesterday! The Holly Jolly Chunk is pomegranate, citrus and mango butter and I’ve heard the smell is absolutely delightful. I absolutely love a Chunk; they are moisturizing, gigantic and amazing…they last so much longer than your average bar of soap…the Chunk is definitely the gateway drug of Perfectly Posh, ha-ha! The Nice Ice Glittery Skin Stick has a yummy peppermint and vanilla scent and actually has glitter and shimmer – a perfect addition to your holiday party routine; it can be smoothed onto your eyes, cheeks and collarbone to add scent and shimmer! And because it’s made with shea butter, it will also keep your skin smooth and nourished during the chilly Winter months!

Four. Vial – Another upcoming Perfectly Posh product that I cannot wait to get my hands on is Vial; our new lip stain product arriving next week! Vial is all natural, made with green chemistry and nourishes your lips while providing vibrant color. Vial is applied with a primer first/stain second that allows for long lasting color – you can also top the color with gloss, but it’s not a requirement. The product will sell in a three product container – you can choose primer/color/gloss or primer/two colors for $49 – and later in the month of November, individual colors will be available for $18 a piece. I can’t wait!

Scenes from A Weekend

Another weekend come and gone – and my Monday was sort of a whirlwind too – so here I am on Tuesday finally getting some words on the page! This post will likely be short and sweet, because I didn’t do a whole lot this past weekend…so there isn’t much to report!

I’d had big plans to go see Professor Marston & the Wonder Women on Friday night with my friend Danielle but I decided on Friday morning that my time would probably be better spent studying for the quiz scheduled in my real estate course on Saturday…

img_0335

That’s how I ended up spending my Friday night studying real estate and finishing my last piece of birthday cake – with a very needy dog begging and crying for just a little bite of cake. It certainly wasn’t an action packed or entertaining Friday night – but I was able to get in the studying that I needed to do…and there was cake, so that’s good!

Saturday was spent; for the most part, in class. I did alright on my quiz but it would seem that I studied things that were stressed as “important” and then they didn’t show up on the quiz. Huh? All things considered, it’s nothing that I’m stressing out about too much but when the sun finally came out around 3:00…after being behind clouds for quite literally the entire week, I couldn’t wait to get out of class!

img_0343
Saturday evening I opened up the door to the deck, pulled the cover off the deck furniture and decided it would be really soothing to cook up a pot of soup… I wasn’t sure what all was in the pantry/refrigerator but I put some potatoes, a can of cream corn, some diced ham and milk together with butter, flour, seasonings and cheddar cheese and whipped up a pretty delicious potato soup. Watson – of course – sat and cried for bites the entire time I ate it! Little stinker!
img_0342 img_0361

I spend Saturday evening finally watching a movie I’d had on my Amazon watch list for ages – The Dressmaker – and honestly; not even Kate Winslet could save this movie. It was so odd and at times just downright depressing. I thought half a hundred times about just cutting it off, but I finished it and moved on.

After sleeping in on Sunday, Watson and I set out to walk the neighborhood and it was much warmer than I’d anticipated – which meant that the jacket I had on was completely unnecessary and by the time we returned to the house, I was melting! After a quick lunch and greeting my parents when they returned from a week in the Pacific Northwest, I headed up the mountainside to see my friend Katie and her sweet baby boy for some snuggles!

img_0362
He has the most amazing head of hair I’ve ever seen on a 6 week old baby – it’s fantastic! We chatted and I snuggled the baby for a couple hours before I headed back down the mountain to have pizza for supper with my parents. I passed the rest of the evening doing some reading for my real estate class, chatting with my Mom and watching Poldark.

And since it’s already Tuesday – a picture from Monday morning, sipping coffee out of my brand new “You Are Here” mug from Seattle and the very first Starbucks!

Here’s hoping the rest of the week is filled with good coffee, good time with friends and family and my brain taking in all the knowledge of real estate that I need to know this week!

Five on Friday

I have never been so happy to see Friday in all my life. This week has been – for lack of a better way to put it – a bit hellacious. Apparently hellacious isn’t actually a word because my spell check is freaking out – but it’s the best word I can think of to describe the past few days…

Hectic would also be a good way to put it. Either way you want to word it, I’m so glad it’s Friday and even if I do have to spend a portion of tonight studying and most of my Saturday in class…there is down time in there and Sunday is pretty much free to me in it’s entirety. So – welcome weekend – I’m so glad you’re here!

Five on Friday
One. Nationals Baseball – Well let’s get the sadness out of the way…my beloved Nationals bit the dust in game five of the NLDS play-offs yet again this year, beat by the reigning World Series champs the Chicago Cubs. Game five of the series was at Nationals Park and ended in heartbreak once again for the Nationals. The season was so much fun and I hate that yet again the Nationals couldn’t pull off the win when they needed it…but I’m a fan till I die and I’ll be counting down the days until the 2018 season begins.

However – I’m beginning to believe that there might be something to this whole DC Sports Curse…

Two. The Countdown is On – That’s right folks; we are into the double digits on the countdown to Disney World! Only 83 days to go before I’m walking down Main Street, slurping on a Dole Whip and speeding around on the Seven Dwarf Mine Train! I cannot wait to start 2018 (sort of) in the happiest place on Earth!

img_0334
Three. Have I Mentioned – My little sister is home again and I’m still pretty happy about that. I went more into detail in yesterday’s post but I’m still feeling so much excitement knowing she is stateside once more!
img_0328
Four. October Posh – That’s right; I’m pushing my business on my blog, how do you like that? Perfectly Posh has so many great deals throughout the year and the deal for October is really a classic! If you purchase any one of Posh’s legacy products during the month of October, you’ll get $6 off your order! I’m a big fan of Posh’s The Healer skin stick and I love the lip balms – they’re amazing and I always have one on hand! And I’ve heard rave reviews about The Stripper body mud…but I haven’t gotten myself any of that quite yet!
img_0330

If you’re interested in Perfectly Posh and want to save $6, check out my site: http://NatalieSummerlin.po.sh/ and look around!

Five. Weekend Plans – Can I get a hallelujah for the weekend? Yes! I had all kinds of plans but I’ve slowly trimmed them back because I am a responsible adult and decided I’d better do a bit more studying and a little less socializing. *sigh* Tis true. I decided to wait until next weekend to see Professor Marston & the Wonder Women and spend tonight studying for my quiz tomorrow…if you’re a praying person, feel free to say a prayer for me!

I’ll be in my real estate class for most of Saturday and I haven’t decided yet where I want to grab lunch from (so exciting…right?) but I’ll probably relax and watch a movie on Saturday night! Sunday I’m going to spend some time with my friend Katie and her sweet baby boy (this was the plan last weekend but it fell through…) and probably spend some time outdoors with my sweet pup. I’m sure the weekend will fly by – it always does – but it hasn’t even started yet, so here’s to enjoying it while it lasts!

img_9636

Something tells me that sweet boy will have changed so much since I saw him last… *sigh*

And that’s all I’ve got for this Friday! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend; fingers crossed that next week is less of a hot mess than this week was, am I right?

The Return

I think I’ve referenced a couple times that for the past four or so months, my younger sister has been on an all expense paid “vacation” courtesy of the US military and yesterday she finally returned!

I think if you asked both of us – Wednesday did not go as planned at all. Granted; she was originally supposed to be back on Tuesday night, but with all things related to military..it didn’t exactly go off without a hitch. I took Wednesday off and drove over to Baltimore in the gloom and misting rain…it was a very “Autumn” day, winding through the mountains that are slowly turning muted shades yellow, orange, red and purple…

Between some miscommunication combined with excitement – I arrived a good two hours early. Whoops! Once I spoke with one of the ticketing agents, I realized it was probably in my best interest to go find some lunch and pass the time somewhere besides the airport…

img_0316 img_0314

When I arrived back at the airport, it was easy to find the location where the military members returning from deployment were coming into the airport. Banners, signs and flags were decorating the walls and people were milling around..waiting… As I took a seat, a woman approached me and asked who I was meeting – and informed me that they would be taking pictures of all the returning soldiers and their families as they were reunited.. which I suppose is fine. I was feeling a bit emotional and I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted that capture for the world to see – but okay…

After about thirty minutes of waiting, Lindsey text me that she was through customs and just a few seconds later – the doors opened and there she was! I think we probably both would have cried had it not been for the people snapping pictures, so maybe their presence was a good thing? I don’t know…

img_0317 Welcoming Lindsey home from Jordan!
Oh – for a bonus laugh for you – below is what happens when you don’t realize your picture is still being taken… awkward much?
img_0319
What with the delayed flight and an impending flight for Lindsey to Vegas, we stopped by the hotel she was supposed to have stayed at on Tuesday night and she got changed and freshened up before we headed to; in Lindsey’s opinion, heaven – Chick Fil A!
img_0321 img_0322

And yes – I did take a picture of her ordering Chick Fil A – I certainly did! We munched on our chicken and chatted about life.. I think she was pretty pleased to be drinking sweet tea and eating delicious chicken and waffle fries again and honestly; I’m just glad they’ve got their chicken tortilla soup again! It wasn’t a lot of time together, but it was more time than we’ve been able to spend in the past four + months. And little did we know…

We returned to BWI for Lindsey to catch her flight to Vegas – only to find out that her flight from Baltimore to Houston had been delayed, leaving her no time to make her connecting flight from Houston to Vegas. She could take the flight to Houston and stay there for the night or be re-ticketed on a flight from Dulles on Thursday morning (that’s today y’all)! After some thought, she decided to go for the straight flight from Dulles…and we ended up spending a few more hours together because we then had to drive from BWI to Dulles in the middle of 5 o’clock traffic…

DC Traffic – I love you not even a little bit. It took two hours to go about 50 miles and it was misting and miserable the entire time. Thankfully the company in the car was stellar!

img_0324

I helped Lindsey get settled at her hotel in Dulles and as much as I’d have loved to stay and help her repack her bags and finish watching the Nationals game (they beat the Cubs 5-0 to force a game five…) – I needed to head home; as it was I was going to be arriving home after 9:00…

All in all – Wednesday was nothing short of crazy. Life rarely goes as planned and Wednesday was a classic example of that. However, if you get to go through the missteps and failed plans with the right person, it’s at least that much better – you know?

img_0325
When all is said and done – I’m so glad Lindsey is home again! Knowing how chaotic Wednesday proved to be didn’t damper the joy of getting to see my best friend again after all these months. And even if I’d had less time to spend with her than I did, I’d have done it all over again!
