Five on Friday

The greatest day of the work week is upon us once more – I think we can all raise our hands in jubilation for that announcement – can we not? I’m linking up this week (as always) with the ladies from two of my favorite blogs, A Smidge of This and Carolina Charm, for Five on Friday.

One. Schizophrenic Weather Patterns – Check! We’ve definitely got those here in the DMV! Tuesday and Wednesday were absolutely gorgeous; radiant blue skies filled with puffy clouds, gentle Spring (like) breezes and temperatures hovering around 70. You’d have never guessed it was early February. However, the temperature plunged on Wednesday night and it snowed all day Thursday.

This is 100% accurate.

To make things even more interesting, I say it snowed all day Thursday – and it did. Throughout the morning hours of Thursday gentle snow floated around in the breeze but didn’t stick to anything. As the afternoon progressed, huge bands of blizzard-like snow would come through and the houses across the street would almost disappear from view for about thirty minutes as snow blanketed the ground…and then the clouds would part, the sun would come out and blue skies would appear again. This cycle repeated itself no less than three times before 5 o’clock…

Two. Weekend Plans – As in; I actually have some and they involve more than binge-watching a new show on Netflix or Amazon Video, ha-ha! While I am still planning to sleep in and sip my coffee on Saturday morning, I’m going out Saturday afternoon/evening with my friend Melissa and since Sunday’s weather forecast has changed from sunny to rainy, I’m headed to the movies on Sunday afternoon. Now…what to do tonight?

Always true.

Three. The Man in the High Castle – Anyone else watching this? The show is based on a novel that depicts life in the US under German & Japanese control; positing life if the outcome of WWII had been different. My little sister has been telling me for months that I needed to start watching it and so on Wednesday while I was at home all day (I didn’t feel so hot) I finally watched the first episode. It’s safe to say after only two episodes I am definitely intrigued. There are two seasons (currently) and at 10 episodes each; I don’t think I’ll get through the whole series in a weekend or anything (I have actual plans – remember?) but I do plan to keep on watching!

Not a pretty picture…

Four. Books – I devoured All the Light We Cannot See and now I have three more books just waiting on my shelf to be read; The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood and Victoria by Daisy Goodwin. I cannot decide which one to crack open first…decisions, decisions…

Also always true…

Five. Nationals Baseball Countdown – Only 52 days until Opening Day, 11 days until position players report for Spring Training and 8 days until pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training! The 2017 Exhibition Games have been announced and tickets for the season go on sale on the 18th! With each passing day, the start of America’s favorite pastime is closer and closer!

And that’s my five for this week! I’m sure somewhere in those weekend plans will (of course) be a little bit of binge-watching and I’ll sort out which book to dive into first… So until Monday…or whenever I post again, whichever comes first!
