Books I Read

Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them Screenplay by J.K. Rowling – I devoured this book in just a couple of days at the beginning of the month. I loved the movie and so I had to have the book…and I enjoyed it almost as much!

Demelza by Winston Graham – The only other book I read the entire month…and I’m still reading it! I read the first book in the Poldark series (that inspired the TV show) almost a year ago and I’m finally getting around to book two…although the TV show has already sped past the book, I’m still enjoying it!

Books in the Queue

Jeremy by Winston Graham – The third book in the Poldarks of Cornwall series; I’ve had this book for a while and it’s just taking me a little bit longer to get to it than I thought! I can’t wait to read it though!

The Case of Beasts by Mark Salisbury – A book that was made as accompaniment to the film; the book contains pages and pages of detail(s) about the making of the movie. It also has gorgeously designed pieces that are able to be removed from the book. This has been sitting on my coffee table for a few weeks now and I can’t wait to dive in!

The Making of Outlander by Tara Bennett – A gorgeous book that details the series from conception through the end of the second season. It’s the perfect read for the “droughtlander” that all fans are enduring until season three premieres. The pictures alone are amazing; I can’t wait to read more about the behind the scenes antics and TV making magic!

Can’t Miss Movies

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – The only movie I saw the entire month of December; but if I was only going to see one movie, I’m glad it was this one! Rogue One was excellent and I enjoyed every moment of the film! It was crazy to see Darth Vader on the big screen again; each character had a compelling storyline, the visuals were fantastic and the big reveal at the end was wonderful…especially in light of recent events. Even if you aren’t a Star Wars fan, this movie is worth a watch!

Must See TV

I honestly can’t say that I watched too much TV during the month of December unless you count Christmas movies and specials that were on TV. I think in this new year, I should go back to adding a section called “What I Binged” because if it wasn’t Christmas-related, I was watching something off of Netflix or Amazon Video…

Tasty Treats

Christmas Cookies – And magic squares and truffles and dips and toffee and brownies…all of the holiday eating! I probably enjoyed it all a little bit too much and hopping back on that scale will be proof of that!

Afternoon Tea at Coach & Horses Tea Room – Always an absolutely delicious experience, no doubt about it!

What I’m Looking Forward To

Sherlock – The fourth (and final???) season of Sherlock finally returns on New Years Day and I could not be more excited! Sherlock is hands down one of my favorite TV shows; it is excellently well cast, the characters are so intricate and the storylines; pulled from the works of Arthur Conan Doyle and tweaked for the 21st century, are hands down some of the most captivating television to be found. I’ve heard this season could be heart-breaking…regardless, I’m ready and I’ll be glued to my TV for the next three Sunday nights to watch Sherlock and Watson’s adventures!

La La Land – I have heard so many…too many…great things about this film and I cannot wait to see it! And I won’t have to wait long because I’ll be catching it in a theater on January 2nd! I know Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone together are magic – so I’m hoping to have a magical time watching this film!

A Day Off Work – This is a pretty short, sweet and to the point one…because who doesn’t love a day off work, right?

A Sister Visit/A Family Visit – Near the end of the month, my sister will be coming back to visit for about five days and some family on my Mom’s side will also be heading to our neck of the woods. Of course I always look forward to time spent with my little sister/best friend…however; I’ve been blessed with a pretty wonderful family and so I’m looking forward to spending time with them as well! And I’m crossing my fingers that my grandmother will be able to tag along too – I’d love so very much to see her!

Snow – Maybe? Perhaps I’d like to see some snow? Although I suppose it’s conditional; it would need to snow enough to warrant a day off work, but not so much that it crippled life for days. So, am I looking forward to snow? Maybe… Ha-ha!

So – December in a nutshell! That’s all I’ve got for this final 2016 edition of What I Was Into…and it’s being posted in 2017, so I’m obviously a little bit behind. Oops!
